PS5 digital edition

Looking for someone to explain this to me. My son has a ps4 pro and I've just ordered him a ps5 digital edition because that's all I could get (on littlewoods). He has lots of games. Some downloaded and some physical discs. Will he be able to play these anymore? He loves Miles Morales and the new Fifa game, both of which are discs. I just assumed that they upload to the ps drive when inserted and can be played on the new console..

Have I wasted my money?

No, he'll need the discs to play them on the PS5. He can still access his downloaded games though.

Digital Edition PS5 doesn't have a disc drive so he will need to keep playing the physical ones on the PS4 unfortunately.

PS5 Digital Edition is still good but he'll just have to download any new games instead of using discs.

He will be able to play any digital games that he owns, but he will not be able to play any games he owns on disc as there is no disc drive.

There is no way to convert a disc game to a digital game.

Ahh ok. I thought that when he inserted the games into the playstation and they take an eternity to download that he doesnt need the discs anymore and those games would be transferable..

Nope, for disc based games you always need the disc in the drive to play them.
