Beretta BRX1

Got an email about Beretta's new BRX1 rifle.

Looks really nice. Comes in 30cals (300wm, 30-06 and 308) and 6.5 CM with more to follow. Straight pull, or as they call it Linear action, M14 threaded sport barrel, and modular with interchangeable barrels and stock pieces. Barrels are 20, 22, and 24" which I assume are linked to caliber rather than choice. Comes in at a little of 7lbs so a light gun.

Wasn't impressed with reports from those that tested it upon release, but I'm putting the group sizes (1.2" at 100 metres) down to the shooter rather than the gun but only ime will tell.

Seems a direct competitor to the Blaser. I thought it would have a price tag to match, but reports are the MSRP is €1,599.

Hmmm, quite tasty indeed!

Would be very interested if they did a larger mag size and an adjustable stock version, but for a straight pull 308 that's a nice one!

There's a lot of the mounting area for a scope floating which doesn't sit right with me. (I note the picatinny above exaggerates this and a cantilevered mount would work as well I presume).

I which factory is it made in? Finland or Italy?

Don't know that. Sako is owned by Beretta so it may be Finland.

Straight away I would have thought Finland but then I remembered the Beretta M501 so they have some pedigree in house when it comes to making rifles.

It does look a bit unusual, but I don’t mind the look of it. What the concern, that it might have a bit of spring in it?

No experience with similar, but I’d have thought a thick bit of hardened steel would be stiff enough. I’d exoebt more give in a the mount or tube itself.

Although I’d keep the pict rail back in line

I'm sure it'd be rock solid, it's just a personal unjustifiable bias. Same goes for anything quick detachable/swappable.

It's not an invalid concern. I was just just curious as to why you thought it might move.

Agree re quick release. The less adjustment in the fixing the wider the tolerance, generally. Their are exceptions I'm sure.

I don't know either way, but I assumed it has two fixings. In fact I'd expect there to be multiple point fixing the rail.

I was looking to import Bergara HMR but price difference not worth it. But I was wondering re importing the new Beretta BRX1 if that was possible as they probably not available here till next year. And how long that would take.

Irish shooting sports have them ordered and they have Bergeras in stock.

I'm waiting on my license for the BXR. I plan on doing a bit of target work with it, along with bit of hunting.

I just applied for mine 2 weeks ago today. Any word back yet on your application? Do you go for steel or carbon? Who did you buy it off also?

It took over 2 months because the firearms officer was out but any other gun would usually take around 3 weeks
