Yes Estaban is in Q2 . Stroll out in Q3. That last two minutes was more like it.

poor enough Q1. Q2 is looking better.

Good to see Ferrari and McLaren close enough to the front to punish mistakes from the top 2 teams now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,732 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

It was interesting to hear the Mercedes team and the teams who use Mercedes engines are all having engine issues which kind of puts to rest the theory that bottas was taking penalties to help Lewis. It’s a Mercedes wide issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,732 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Fair play Sergio Perez but there’s still time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Commentary has devolved into 'how many American pop culture references can Croft fit into a sentence' might be the Guinness talking but I wish Brundle would smack him in the gob

Great end to the qualy session.

Fantastic stuff, 3 drivers all with a real shout at pole. This is set up really well for tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Listening to the crowds roar when Max sets his first lap time for provisional pole, then Checho sets his and another massive roar from the crowd. Missed that sound! What pandemic?!!

Excellent qualy. Great to see Perez beginning to rise to the challenge. Excellent time for the race tomorrow and a bank holiday to follow. Should be enjoyable.

Awe so dissapointed for Sergio but delighted for Max it's better than Hamilton anyway.

Interesting to hear about Perez being able to move his car away from the RB\Verstappen standard setup.

Great to see Merc not having it their own way and not getting any handy strategies with Perez up there finally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Perez has been moving away from the standard setup for a while now

It's probably a lot steadier and suits Perez, but isn't as fast especially in qualifying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Everyone so pumped in post qualy interviews!

Nice, advantage red bull with both overcut and undercuts available aswell as option for 1 & 2 stops, bottas going back to p9 behind two mclarens and ferraris means it could be a slog for him.

One thing I read about this weekend is that Adrian Newey is back after missing a number of races recovering from a bike accident, and that may be what’s made the difference with Red Bull getting back on top of set up.

Before I read about that I wasn’t aware he’d even been in an accident, that was kept very low key. Glad he’s on the mend and still seemingly at the top of his game judging by qualifying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,050 ✭✭✭Hijpo

Apparently he spotted a number of setup issues when he got back to the factory after some surgery.

Times are so slow compared to 2019 here. Bottas topped Q3 then with a 1:32.089, Verstappen today a 1:32.910.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,445 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Ferrari vs McLaren looks tasty for tomorrow. Sainz on the softs is a bit of an outlier so Ferrari need to release him as quick as possible to build up a gap against over/under cutting.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,592 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Race apparently a certain two-stopper so starting on softs may not be as big a handicap as elsewhere. I wonder will Leclerc be able to hang on to Perez?

They were saying that with temperatures the soft tyre was wouldn't last. Could the drivers starting on mediums pull off a one stop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,445 ✭✭✭✭flazio

To pull off a one stop you'd need to start on the hards.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,556 ✭✭✭Harika

Pirelli say one stop is the slowest option.

Could be a "steady" middle stint, teams will want to at least make it look like they've the option to do it on one-stop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,691 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

So how long until Mazepin is lapped/disqualified?

I cant see him lasting given his complete inability to remain within track limits he'll get enough warnings to DSQ himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

He’ll surely cop on enough in the race to not get DQ’d, how many corner cuts would it take

During a race you’re not going flat out the whole time so he’ll make the corners but will prob be a second slower than even Mick per lap

Megan thee stallion showing some skid marks there.

    This Sky coverage is insufferable.

Anyone else remember the ITV coverage? Usually just 45 minutes (News, local news then weather at 12) and full of features.

I take it all back after that Megan Stallion bit.

Some of the celebs giving Martin the cold shoulder, Ben Stiller and Rory McIlroy happy to stop for a chat. Feels good to have a grid walk again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,749 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

The security lad must have sad something along the lines of you can't do that.

Brundle replying with 'I can and I just did' 🤣

Would love Hamilton to take the knee for the anthem :P

Some self important pricks on the grid there giving Brundle grief.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

I think Lewis and max will collide first corner with Perez for the win
