After two weeks ...
IMT has soared to 9.7 C, with this past week average 11.0 which is 3.4 above normal.
MAX 17.7 and MIN -0.2
PRC now 48% with the second week average at 71%.
SUN has fallen off considerably to 95% after a rather cloudy week (52% of normal from 310/600).
BONUS _ I hope that some colder days lie ahead because 8.4 is all we have so far, mind you nobody picked a date earlier than the 19th so it's probably expected.

The current GFS has the 516 dm thickness into Ulster by 25th-26th, that could support daytime readings around 2-4 C even after marine modification factored in, so I think all forecasts are in play at this point.

Mt Dillon -1.5deg yesterday.
Only the second below freezing this season.

That min was at end of the day on the way down to lower values, saw -3 C so far at Gurteen.
Also new low max at Knock (7.4 C) on 21st.
After three weeks ...
IMT on 9.5 C. Third week average 9.1 (+2.0).
MAX 17.7, MIN -3.1 (Gurteen 22nd)
PRC down to 38% with this past week only 19% of normal.
SUN is around 91% now with the third week at 83.5% (501/600).
New low max is 7.4 (21st Knock), today's current readings suggest that we may find a lower value from today's readings (confirmed 6.8 C at Oak Park 22nd).

Just confirmed in previous post that MIN is now -3.1 and low max is now 6.8 Oak Park 22nd.
Saturday looks capable of going lower for the max. Last night was at least -2 at Athenry and Moorepark so slight chance of the -3.1 already being lower. Further chances for lower minima seem reduced by cloud and wind during coldest nights ahead.

It looks like Shannon didn't get above 5 for max figure today we will have to wait and see if this is confirmed tomorrow.

Shannon tied with Gurteen at 5.7 for the new low max.
Nobody had picked Shannon but Bsal has Gurteen. DOCARCH had the lone 23rd guess. 5.7 is above all guesses, Kindred Spirit and dasa29 had 5.0.
Probably Saturday is the only realistic chance to beat 5.7 now, Friday will have perhaps too mild a start before cold air arrives, but worth keeping an eye on each day in this somewhat cold spell. With the set-up for Saturday Ballyhaise would probably be more likely to contend.

New low max data ... 4.8 at Dublin and Casement (27th). Then Dunsany 4.9 (27th) ... none of these were selected by anyone. If they hold up, Con scores zero and Normal scores 3/4 (Dunsany seems as likely as Ballyhaise).

Everyone should score 1 to 4 in each category so these may seem a bit generous at the lower end. The clustering of scores will depend partly on merit rather than just evenly dividing the categories, as there are some big gaps especially in the temperatures selected. Only three qualify for four points for temperature (Tae laidir 4.9, Kindred Spirit and dasa29 both 5.0, and Artane2002 4.2) as there were three next highest forecasts at 3.9 and 3.8. Those go for three points along with a couple at 3.4. ... We had six guesses for 27th so only those will get four points.

If any qualifying location improves its rank today or Monday, the location scores may be adjusted. If the lowest value stays in the range of 4.5 to 4.8 then those scores won't change, if it came down below 4.5 some changes might be needed. And that would change the date scores, the 28th has five selections so it would then be 28th at 4 and 27th or 29th at 3, 24th,25th,26th,30th at 2 and 19th-23rd at 1.
Unless these values change, Kindred Spirit leads with 12 points and JPmarn, Tae laidir and Artane2002 have 11.
I can't edit the table of forecasts but the part about Con Sensus scoring 3 for 27th or 28th should have read will score 4 for either 27th or 28th and otherwise same as forecasters who said either of those if not 27th or 28th (which likely won't come into play).

However, looks quite possible that Ballyhaise or Mullingar might fail to reach 4.8 or 5.1 C today, so all of the above may prove to be irrelevant.

We now also have Dublin airport at Max of 4.8 on 28th, so that will change your scoring slightly M.T.

Yes, that will elevate the scores of all five who chose 28th to four rather than three. It also changes 29th from 2 to 3 points. Nobody loses any points anyway. ... Meanwhile here's the update after four weeks with projections of final values ...
IMT now 8.2 from 8.16 rounded, and should finish on 8.0 as today and 30th will average around 6 C. The fourth week average was 5.2 which was 2.5 below normal.
MAX 17.7 and MIN -3.1 both appear confirmed now.
PRC is only 36% of normal with this past week at 34%. Some rain in the forecast for late Tuesday but probably not moving this result very much, let's say 40% tops.
SUN now back up to 105% with this past week at 144% (864/600). Rather dull finish to the month so expect this to rest very close to 100%.
The lowest max was 4.8 C at Dublin both 27th and 28th, and Casement 27th. Scoring for the bonus has been discussed in recent posts.

Most of the elements for scoring are available, this will be either confirmed or adjusted on Thursday 2nd from MS values.
(IMT scored from 8.0 which will remain if actual IMT is 8.1 to keep max scores at the current levels, and PRC scored from minimum progression as most likely outcome is near 40%, MAX 17.7, MIN -3.1, SUN 100% and bonus as discussed).

For the forecasters, scoring will be determined by error in the date (if any), and for location, the scoring will be determined by ranking of lowest three maxima (each station gets one chance to set a mark in that) and locations not chosen will be left out of the scoring calculations on that element.
Scoring will be out of 4 for each element which will provide potential for a superbonus of 1 or 2 points however the totals work out. No zero scoring so it will be best six for four, next six for three, next six for two and last five for one point.
Ties may complicate that a bit, we shall find out. (helpfully 6 chose 27th and 6 chose either 26th or 28th which will smooth out the scores).
(In case my two column format there confused anyone, there is no connection between the dates and the locations that appear in the same row, just that the locations were listed by most frequent to least, and the dates from early to late).

The IMT has finished on 8.1 C so consider the scoring to be boosted (it was done from 8.0).
Will check the rest of the data tomorrow and post the annual updates then.

note: the provisional scoring has been confirmed so this table is also now confirmed. The total score for BLIZZARD7 was found to be 19-2 = 17 rather than 12-2 = 10. That change is reflected below. PRC was 47% and SUN was 101%. MAX 17.7 and MIN -3.1. Updated category scoring to follow.

Sunflower3 still holds a comfortable lead. Although Sunflower3's NOV score only 52, the best 9/11 added the previous excluded score of 64. The only others to drop their NOV score in this scoring total were Con Sensus (used 59 rather than the 58 score) and Bsal (used 41 rather than 33). Everyone else added their NOV score to the best 9 of 11.
