Yes it's the Christmas bumper edition of the RTE Guide dated 16 Dec. but the Radio 2 schedule is for Christmas week ahead.
No Simon did not have a full time weekday show on the station, maybe that suited him. He filled in on probably every weekday slot at some stage up to 2001.

Does anyone remember if the Jimmy character remained on the breakfast show after Ian Dempsey left? There are photos of Simon working on the breakfast show in Gareth O'Callaghans time 98/00

Yes I vaguely recall that Gareth pretty much carried on the show in the same format as Ian left it, including "Jimmy" and Des Cahill doing the sport.
