Wait for the roar when Perez temporarily gets to lead whilst Max pits

If I were Gasly I'd be telling Marko to pay him as a Red Bull driver to do the Red Bull's job.

Perez leads his home race, not bad for him.

    A great pit stop!

Don't get the call to stay out so long from Red Bull. Tyre life to the end isn't going to be an issue so they were just handing a ton of time to Hamilon.

First Mexican to lead for a lap at their home GP - delighted for him.

Perez is a master at looking after his tires, he has a superpower for this kind of thing.

If he got Hamilton that would be HUGE!

Jesus Christ Crofty wouldn't put it past Red Bull to deliberately put Verstappen in jeopardy and dropping 7 seconds back to hold up Hamilton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,445 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Jolyon Palmer dismissed the radio message straight away.

    This too shall pass.

At least you were good natured about it, unlike the Schumacher pedant. As it happens, this race has turned into a procession. The car wins out yet again, driver need only stay on the circuit.

    Bottas STILL behind Ricciardo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

At this rate, Perez is close to getting on the softs, which would be tasty for the final laps.

    ...Ah arse.

    But he went so long.

    Bottas 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Shocker of a stop for Bottas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,384 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    Poor Bottas.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,264 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Nearly 12 seconds for Bottas- oh dear!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,749 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Nice flames on the front left of Bottas when the gun was running.

Disaster of a stop to cap off a pretty crap race for him.

At least he has that Fangio trophy for the pole.

Don’t understand RB’s Perez strategy. Gap to Hamilton was 1.5s before the stops, now 9.5s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,295 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

He was never going to get around Ricciardo anyway so it probably doesn't make much difference.

    Me neither,

He has took the fastest lap back. Mercedes might put Bottas again with the sole intention of getting that back if he can somehow get in the points.

Perez is currently lapping much faster than Lewis, but he surely won't catch and pass him.

Perez took 1.2 out of Ham. Game on?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

Well Perez has just taken 1 point from Hamilton for fastest lap. He is also closing in on Hamilton on much fresher tires. I guess there was also the possibility of a safety car too.

Its pretty dull when Verstappen is just out in front like this. Hopefully Checo can catch Hamilton and make this some bit interesting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

    Another .8 for Perez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

Perez taking good lumps out of the gap to HAM. Could be a spicey finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,288 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Ted Kravitz’ audio is out of sync with the video, it’s slightly ahead. He keeps spoiling the outcome of the pitstops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

Its always that way. The live feed is a few seconds behind so they can cut it should something horrible happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,288 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Perez’ tyre advantage will have worn off by the time he catches Hamilton. Can’t see him making the pass. His best chance was to come in the lap after Hamilton, when Ham got stuck behind Leclerc.

You'd see more overtaking in the Suez canal, the powers that be need to sort this farce out and equalise the playing field. Verstappen eases to victory, provided he doesn't fall asleep at the wheel. Have at it folks, adios.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Perez is on it, clear air for both now for a few laps, so this should give us all an idea.

    6 seconds...cone on Perez

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

I think Perez will do it. I agree that the tire advantage is almost gone but the RB has faster race pace. We will see!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Under 6 seconds now, 20 laps to go. Come on Perez!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,749 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Max takes the fastest lap back.

Let's go Checo! I think the overtake will be a hail Mary if he does it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,445 ✭✭✭✭flazio

I imagine Toto is trying to get Willams to put Timo Glock in for Abu Dhabi.

    This too shall pass.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

The gap to Hamilton is now under 4 seconds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Lewis looks a bit Snakey out of slow corners now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

    Under 4 seconds now.

He will be in DRS in a few laps!

Gap to Hamilton is now under 3 seconds! This is on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

Oh HAM will have quite a face on him if PER gets the pass done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

2 laps until he has DRS, tasty! Imagine the crowd!

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,650 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

……and already the gap to Hamilton is under 2 seconds!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,732 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So Lewis went for a wander which is why the gal went down so much.

Don't think that's true. In the analogue TV days the lights went out 1-2 seconds after they should, so it was pretty much as live as it could be. Even now with digital it's 3-4 seconds off which sounds about right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

    Lewis off track!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,526 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

The crowd are loving this, imagine that atmosphere!

Loving the Red Bull radio lol
