External DVD driver

We have a lot of DVDs around the place that I cannot view on new laptop as no DVD drive. Any advice on buying an external drive? Also I would like to stitch together a lot of mini videos that are presently on Whatsapp ( have web version) so could I have a DVD writer feature as well to store these on? or should I use some…

I am travelling a fair bit with laptop so would be handy to take a bit of a box set to watch when offline eg on plane.

Literally any one will do. They're cheap as chips. I use an old internal one from a previous laptop. You just need a sata to usb connector.
