Bathroom light with shaver socket - plug only works when on

Hi, I've a 10 year old Legrand bathrooms light (pull cord) with shaver plug

I Can't find a photo of the exact one, but similiar to this one:https://www.voltimum.co.uk/articles/legrand-lights-bathrooms-energy

The plug only works when the cord is pulled (no other switch) so can't use for say, charging electric toothbrush.

Is this common would any one know and will it need to be replaced in order to be able to use the plug at all times?

I believe it is designed to work this way. This is quite normal.

You could fit an isolated shaver socket (with a transformer) to provide charging power as long as it complies to the spec around bathroom zones.

Just to keep anyone reading this post up to date. I went to a large electricity provider in Sandyford and purchased a replacement light with shaver socket that works as I was hoping to. Cost about 20Euro: LITETRON 60 WATT DUAL VOLTAGE SHAVERLIGHT 230-115 VOLT PULL CHORD LAMP INCLUDED WHITE

They had a Led version for 37Euro but I don't really use the light, just hoping to charge electric toothbrushes
