Much the same. Just can't understand this lemming like rush to be lab rats for what are basically live vaccine trials on humans by pharma companies racking up huge profits. Was happy enough to take initial two dose vaccine on basis of preventing serious illness. But can't see any merit in stampeding large sections of the already vaccinated population into 'boosters'. Fine for people who may have poor health but for otherwise healthy people, seems very unwise. If vaccines are useful, we should be doing all in our power to distribute them to the rest of the world instead of this conscience salving 'get a vaccine, give a vaccine' crowd fundraising thing.

Anyone know if they'll turn you away from a walk in centre because you're technically restricting movements?

Fiancé had a close contact in work which he found out about the next day after the colleague did an antigen. He started restricting his movements immediately, but only got the HSE close contact text 3 days later 🙄 his 10 days from the actual close contact event expires tomorrow, but will the booster clinic turn him away as he still has another 3 days to go according to the HSE text? Needless to say he's tested negative everyday!

We're keen to get our boosters asap as the 5 day movement restriction will be very handy when we're inevitably exposed again!!!

Cant be bothered for now. It wont bring back normal. I have no real interest in socialising with the current set of rules and the inflation we are seeing in pubs/restaurants.

Luckily for the bedwetters in government who are deluding themselves that boosters are important I will probably get it for travel. Thats how they will get most of us to accept it.

"Give a vaccine" means donating to cover the cost of administration of the vaccine (and getting the vaccine physically to those in need of it), that's what's needed. Supply of vaccines isn't the issue, nor is western countries using them, SA has been turning back vaccines as they don't have the infrastructure to roll out what they have (30% vax rate currently).

It's not a conscience salve unless you wrongly think that it's the literal physical vaccine that's the issue (it isn't). It's also a pretty sh*tty comment to make about those who are donating to the effort.

There shouldn't be any teams. It's a ridiculous notion really. Many vaccines have done an incredible amount of good for society in human history.

These are new vaccines. And I would personally not really judge anyone for choosing to be cautious around taking them. It's a personal medical choice.

As a direct comparison, I have given blood regularly in my life. Giving blood is vital to society.

But I do not believe in compelling or bullying anyone into giving blood. I have on occasions stopped giving blood for extended periods of time, for my own private reasons. I do not owe anyone an explanation for this decision. It's my body, my blood, and my personal medical choice.

I feel the same way about these vaccines. It's nobody else's business whether you choose to take these vaccines or boosters. But forming these ridiculous "teams" pro / anti-vax, is just lowest common denominator BS! (imho)

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives, and it puts itself into our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday." (John Wayne)

It's not going to happen until at least Jan 15th anyway and the ink is barely dry on the EU agreement. AFAIK individual countries have to approve it first.

its too early as in ... they don't have the process sorted out ; why would i care about the 30+ cohort ? my cert would expire in February, and today I have no way to register on my Irish cert the booster I got last week while abroad; I was told ... something will be published soon on this (guess they are working on it).

Yes, they are sorting out things in stages, and the severe minority of people who got their booster outside their country of residence would not be high on the list. Why do you feel like that would take more than 5 weeks to set up, given that they already have a system implemented for that for the first 2 doses?

Well unfortunately the majority don’t think like you. And so long as we continue to be treated like the blacks in 1950’s America - worse in fact, at least they were allowed in to most restaurants - we have to have to have a sense of community, take some pride in our appearance and not go around like good for nothing slobs.

You are not being treated worse than "blacks in 1950's America". Have a bit of self awareness.

You certainly don't know much about the history of blacks in America. For one thing, they didn't join voluntarily.

Most anti-vaxxers I've run into in Ireland are, in fact, uber-entitled dole scroungers who blather on about things they don't know about - like immune systems - and worry that the contrails are going to soak them with aluminium while infecting them with 5G or some such.

So, how do you plan to get your immune system and body in shape? Will you be in as good a shape as this guy? https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/nov/30/life-tragic-death-john-eyers-fitness-fanatic-who-refused-covid-vaccine

Did you just compare anti-vaxxers to blacks in 1950s America?

Wait, did you just say blacks in 1950s America had it better than anti-vaxxers?

Fuckin' hell, I've heard it all now.

I’m sure if you were around a few years ago you’d be asking what the big deal is about having to sit at the back of the bus and drink from a different water fountain...

If I was around a few years ago? What? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Got mine yesterday, stone dead at the centre. Nurses standing around chatting as there was nobody turning up. She said they should have started the 30s earlier so there was something to do.

Reluctantly got mine yesterday morning at a walk in centre .

For someone my age , general health who already had the two doses I found the argument for it dubious particularly as it looks like it's effectiveness against getting Covid symptoms will only last 10/12 weeks.

Walk in centre was fairly quiet , a trickle of people , no queue , the vaccinator was well up for a chat.

I got the moderna but would have much preferred pfizer again , i know a few people who were completely wiped out for a few days after the second dose of moderna.

So far so good, my arm became sore after a few hours , it took 10/12 hours after both Pfizer shots , it also hurts more this time. But apart from that i feel grand .

Anyone know if its possible to get Pfizer anywhere? Vaccine centers and pharmacies all around me are only doing Moderna. My doctor isn't doing vaccinations any more.

Got my booster at Park's pharmacy in Dorset Street. Delighted to get it. I had rung up a few pharmacies in my area and was told I'd be on a waiting list for 2 weeks. I rang up Park's and they said they were doing walk-ins. There was no queue and I was in and out of there in about ten minutes. Excellent service. I got a Pfizer. Worth giving them a ring if you are struggling to get somewhere.

Got Pfizer booster an hour ago after getting J&J in the summer. I’m 28 and don’t feel like i really need it but I’m just preempting the inevitable booster update to the vaccine pass.

I'm finding myself extremely confused. I had the second dose of Pfizer on the 1st of October. When should I be getting a booster? HSE says 90 days later, I see people in here saying 6 months. I've not had covid myself (that I am aware of).

At this point, I will do just about anything to avoid further restrictions. My mental health has taken what feels like an irreversible beating over being very isolated the past two years. I had a baby during that time, and the restrictions meant my husband missed out on almost every part of it when he was with me every step of the way for our other two children. I can't spend more than 20 minutes in a retail setting with my mask on before I start to get incredibly anxious as people simply do not want to give me personal space. I do not go to pubs, I do not eat in restaurants, I did not socialize with most of my extended family over Christmas, my new and only nephew doesn't know me and cries when I speak to him. I honestly don't give a flying fiddler's what they're putting in it at this stage. I just want my life back.

90 days is correct, it was changed recently from 6 months.

I see some walk-in clinics also allow you book a timeslot. For example, Shoreline in Greystones are listed as a walk-in clinic from 8:30am - 7pm tomorrow but also allow you to book a timeslot at those times here.

How does that work exactly? Is there two separate queues? Or is booking a timeslot for the most part pointless?

That's interesting, in Swords they have different slots. Appointments only in the morning, walk-ins in the afternoon.

I booked a timeslot an hour ago but haven't received an SMS confirmation yet, so perhaps those timeslots shouldn't be listed. Who knows.

Edit: I tried it again at a different timeslot and got the confirmation SMS.

I received the following response from the HSE on Twitter.

"When you arrive at the centre on the day reception will direct you based on whether you have an appointment or are attending a walk-in clinic."

I don't know whether that means people with a timeslot skip the queue and go straight to the reception, or if they join the queue until they get to the reception. 😄
