Ammo that doesn't suit your rifle

I was doing an inventory of my ammo today and I have a bunch of stuff I've determined doesn't suit my rifles. Some of it has been in the safe for a few years.

I was wondering what you guys do with ammo you've tried, but didn't like. Do you try and sell it on? Shoot it anyway just to get rid? Or, like me, put it in the safe forever where it takes up precious space a eats into your ammo allowance?

I was thinking of taking all my "crap" stuff down the range this weekend and exercising option 2 above on it.

If it was cheap, plink away with it.

If not then sell it on usually.

I have a box of Remington .22lr subs that won’t cycle my 10/22, plinking isn’t even an option!

Anyone want them?

Depends on the scenario but one of the following:

• Shoot it off if its cheap crap
• Store it if its not great but will do in a pinch, and I only have a small amount
• Give it to someone (if its not too expensive, like under €40 or so quid)
• Sell it if its expensive or in large quantities.

Got some Fiocchi HP 50 gr stuff once. Two boxes cost €60 with 50 rounds per box. Fired about 12 rounds and they were terrible. Didn't know what to do with them then a young lad on the range was there with his new rifle and a small mix of ammo (looked like he had been given a few rounds of each type by someone else) and I gave it to him with the warning they were rubbish, but he was more excited about just hitting the target so gladly shot them for the rest of the day.

If they are still NIB,you could take them to a dealer and plead your case for a swop for a different brand with some money parting your hands? Did that with some utterly POS Norinco steel-cased 308 that turned my rifle into a jam o matic. Got a swop for 2 @20 round boxes of Winchester silver tips at a discount

Good approach. No point sending good money after bad.

No point plinking away a box of crap. Why you could get a box of good rounds for a tiny outlay.
