Letters of Administration - Solicitor as administrator?

Hi there, my father died a few months ago and I'm left to deal with his estate.

There is a house and one bank account. My mother and sibling died many years ago so it is just myself left.

I'm wondering if it is possible have a solicitor act as the administrator instead of myself? Is this possible?

From reading the law it seems like it has to be a relative? He does have one sibling but they are very old and wouldn't be able for it.

I have gotten over covid and just don't feel up to it and apparently my husband cannot do it either.

Is there a will? If not, did your deceased sibling have any children?

No reason you can't appoint a solicitor to apply for the grant of representation on your behalf and carry out any other work on your instructions in relation to the estate. If you are the sole beneficiary there should be relatively little work. You should find a reliable solicitor through personal recommendation and ensure that you were clear on the level of fees to be charged in advance.
