Mods making a point and immediately closing a thread...

I've seen it a couple of times here now, including one instance where a Mod made a personal comment and closed the thread, apparently to prevent any comeback or rebuttal.

Obviously threads have to be closed once an issue is addressed or a point exhausted. But getting in a dig and shutting thread down is simply bad modding, it's akin to hanging up mid phone call. I think the best practice would be to flag an intention to close a thread and cite a reason, and if nothing further happens then close it. Anything is better than making a point and closing it there and then.

    Agree 100%.

Have never seen it much before the ‘upgrade’ but have seen a spate recently.

It’s one thing to do it if you’re understaffed but the personal digs and the sense of self autonomy displayed is a very very poor look on the website. It’s like when we were children and you have the kid that would take the ball and go home so everybody else was just standing there looking around. His ball. His game. His rules.

Your suggestion would be a much more civilised way to go about it.

This is not really site wide feedback when it's clear you are talking about a specific incident(s). You can post a specific query about the incident that inspired this in Help Desk. Speaking to the mod about it first can often help before starting a complaint.
