I recently visited someone who has moved into one of these new apartments just completed in Rathbane. Nice and spacious and pretty well finished inside and out,

except - there is no provision for any form of broadband or even for connecting a phone land-line. The residents are having to get by with using mobile phones set up as hotpoints which in this day and age is hardly satisfactory, especially with many children depending on broadband for so many different things.

Several of the broadband companies have visited the site only to find they are unable to do installations because there is no cabling in situ.

Seems a crazy state of affairs. One new tenant with a minor disability has been trying to find out when or if, the County Council proposes to rectify the situation, but has received no indication that anything is currently planned to provide connectivity. Hard to believe, after being opened since late summer, that any modern residential development can be left almost totally disconnected from the online world.
