Pre ground for Espresso tastes horrendous

Hi. I've borrowed a decent Espresso machine. A Rancilio. I don't have a grinder at present and have tried to brew with Black Lazazza pre ground packet. It tastes awful. Do any coffee shops sell pre ground at the "right" fineness for Espresso machines. Or would they do it for you?

My take on why it takes horrible is that it is not fine enough. This based on the fact that the brew is flying thru the machine, I'd have a 2:1 ratio in seconds. If I wait 25 seconds I have over 100 grammes.

Yeah......go to someone like 3fE and they'll grind your beans to your specification. Any shop really that sells fresh roasted beans should have a grinder and will grind for you.

You never know when the likes of Lavazza coffee has been ground......could be months ago, in a Distant Galaxy 😀

Thanks. Did that and it was a big success.

.....and the older the new fine grounds get, the faster the hot water will flow through, therefore loosing flavour. It starts to loose it's moisture (grinds) fairly fast, if not kept airtight.
