Takeaway with no card facilities in 21

An Indian takeaway that opened near me recently has no card machine like it were 1991. I thought new businesses were going the other direction nowadays?

Dynasty in Naas ( Chinese ) also only accepts cash, makes you wonder alright, no receipts given out either.

Somebody else opened a similar thread recently. General response was that it's up to each individual business to decide how to accept payments. For what it's worth, Chinese takeaway near me only accepts cash either.

Still a fair few businesses that don't take card. Takeaways would pay drivers etc in cash in many cases so too high a % of card take on a day could make that difficult.

I don't think you remember what the banking / payments landscape was actually like in 1991.

Well, while I'd say nearly every restaurant with seats took card in 1991; I'd hazard a guess next to no takeaways did! Took a lot longer to get paid and with much higher fees back then.

Credit cards were invented for restaurant use in the first place of course.

Yeah card fees can be very high for small businesses. Id say if they are any good support them and maybe feed it back that it would be handy if they could have card facilities!

I never knew till recently just eat charges something like 15%+ for businesses using their app as a channel - Always call my local now.

Camile now print on their bags about how high the fee is on apps and ask you to use their own site. Even the booking engines that places use for their "own site" can have pretty hefty fees - but clearly cheaper than Justeat considering some of the discounts you can get for going that way. 10% with my local Indian (who have taken card as long as I can remember)

I was shocked one time when I had no cash on me and and ordered from a local takeway via Just Eat instead of over the phone, and the end price online was a couple of euro dearer for the exact same meal. I avoided using the app again, after that.
