It's like Newton's 3rd law; for every established veritable fact, someone has an equal and opposite anecdote.

It's also quite the coincidence that the same people who said covid was harmless at the start are the same people who suffocate when wearing face masks, who have lost dozens of friends to lockdown related suicides, who have no relatives left because they all died from vaccines etc. Their wife/mother is also often a nurse who claims that hospitals are empty and/or reporting all deaths as covid related.

Perhaps they are not all lying. The death of a loved one after getting the vaccine could have been their trigger to start engaging with the conspiracy theory.
