Can I ask what number you rang to get it so quickly as I rang this morning myself and the guy said he couldn't say when the claim would be dealt with

Got my SoL today. I had declared EU interest earned for DIRT. They've made an adjustment for the full liability. Last year this didn't occur and the liability was to be deducted equally from my tax credits over the subsequent 4 years.

Has there been a change to take the full deduction when declared? I can't find reference to the tax credit deduction method anymore on the revenue's website.

I declared EU interest for the first time this year, and my revised SoL has reduced my credits from 2026 for 4 years. I've asked if I can pay what's due (it's not a big amount), still waiting for a reply

They will take your money any time you're willing to give it, i mean it's the revenue 😁

When you do they send you a renewed sol with outstanding balance and if you clear the amount owed the credits go back to 0.

As I said from previous posts surely they should be able to do there checks in 5 weeks I applied for the tax return on the 1st of january

I finally got through to Revenue, they told me what refund I'm due back and that they're snowed under and just waiting on a manager to sign it off and the refund will be issued.

Thank you for the reply. May I ask did you mention the formal complaint when you rang them or just made an enquiry

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 106racehill

yes u have say I wish make a formal complaint as it’s more than 10 working days , and also a reason why u need it done asap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 Carrickbhoy

What would be a good reason too say that you need it , if you don't mind me asking. I rang again today I'm waiting 4 weeks now , said it's gone for manual reveiew but are backed up and to ring back on Monday if I don't hear from them by then.

Not sure if this helps anyone waiting on there tax return. I rang again Friday and finally got some answers they told me that me statement of liability was reissued in Friday the 14th. I should have it Monday. Bear in mind I applied on January the 1st. I asked so I can expect to see the statement in my ros acc on Monday he said I should unless the reissued statement it gets flagged again for another check. This makes zero sense to me. I won't be threatening a complaint if this is not resolved on Monday I will be making a full complaint

Just got notification that mine was pulled for manual processing. Need to provide supporting documents, although the PTSB don't provide a statement of interest for 2024 until october 2025 which is a pain. Really small amounts, lot of hassle.

I've also been waiting over a month. I assume it's related to my adding EU deposit interest for the first time. I'm not in a hurry, so hopefully their backlog clears up over the next few weeks.

For anyone still waiting. I submitted my tax return at the start of January. Finally rang them today and was told there had been a system glitch and my SOL was never triggered. Retriggered today and should have it within 3 business days. Supposedly it’s a common occurrence in January.

Submitted by return last Wednesday, got my refund on Friday, impressed by efficiency every year.

Hearing different stories from different people. Typically it takes 5 working days and you should get your statement of liability within 24 hours sent to your revenue inbox, if you don't receive the statement in to your inbox, send them a my enquiry.

I submitted mine on the 21st of January and I haven't heard anything yet.

I'd say you will need to give them a email about it. It should never take this long. Typically 24 hours for a statement of liability to be issued to your inbox.

yeah, it’s incredibly efficient for most people. You see the outliers on here but most people get an automatic refund within 2-3 days

The only suggestion I’d have for revenue is that they contact someone within those 2-3 days if their case has been assigned for further checks etc

Currently it’s either “here’s your SOL and here’s your money” really quickly or nothing at all (it seems).

In fairness, in the Revenues defense with the amount of people submitting returns in January I'd say its easy enough for some to slip through the cracks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,434 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

yeah. Of course. An automated email telling someone their SOL has not been processed and needs approval should be doable though. Would cut out a lot of the calls and enquiries they have to deal with I’d imagine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 224 ✭✭CWMMC

Exactly, or explain if you do not receive a SOL by a certain date to contact this number to be processed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭Bojill

Submitted mine on 16th Jan, got an email asking for proof of interest from trade republic, last Friday.

Was told that once they got the proof, the SOL would be issued. Nothing back yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 224 ✭✭CWMMC

Suppose for the not so complex ones they would be submitted quicker such as just PAYE income and tax credits. I know when submitting medical it states that you may be asked for the receipts and that you can upload them to the portal. I presume you mean Friday just gone, so its been 2 days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭Bojill

Actually thurs, I presumed it would be quicker rather than going into another queue after 6 weeks.

Submitted 17th Jan. Got a message asking me to clarify some remote working relief details on Saturday 22nd of Feb, and SOL was released on Tuesday 25th Feb.
