EV chargers from the ESB meter-box

Could one of you tell me what the current guidance is on taking the power feed for an EV charger out of the meter-box, say in a standard residential setting and if the consumer unit is 5 to 7 meters away? If it's not allowed at this time, is it reckoned that there will there be an allowance in the future? Also would a meter-box which is not 'compliant' be reported to ESB-n and would they realistically seek remediation of the condition?

Thanks for that link.

I thought the wording was stronger around which situations were allowed for when deciding where to connect the EV charger, or was the later notification to REC's differently worded? Is it fair to say that the majority of future installations will be from the meter cabinet now, with a simple label installed on the consumer unit to appease Safe Electric Ireland?

The way I see it, you could be saving a 7 or more meter run of copper in taking the power off the meter box in many instances. It also cuts down on the disturbance within the house too, improving the adoption/take-up rate in some instances.

Any official update on this,some RECI are saying not allowed in the mains box, others the opposite, one saying smart meter should be on left of main fuse, one saying RECI can only use bottom right of main box.

Who is in wrong If an electrician offers to install it at metre box. For an older house that already completed and connected to power. Would it be like a regulation raise as an issue If selling house or could ESB fine you if they notice?

Realistically there's no space in the cabinet for anything except the consumers main MCB anyhow

Main board in the house should be the preferred option from an electrical standpoint. Distribution and main isolation at meter cabinets isn't a great job.
