Thru axle

Hi there,

Does anyone have one of these thru axles lying about? It's 135mm and 15mm depth as far as I'm aware. It's to fit the front forks of a Merida 500 cx bike. Can't find a replacement. Maybe someone here might have one or be able to help me find one?

Are you sure it's 135mm?

Standard front fork width is 100mm for both thru-axle and quick release, which makes it very easy to get a QR adapter for the thru axle e.g. something like this - https://www.bike24.com/p250221.html

The rear is 142mm in thru-axle and 135mm QR which means you can't use a similiar type adapter as it'd be too wide for QR by 7mm!

I'm pretty certain the Merida 500 cx is standard i.e. 100mm but slightly non-standard 15mm (most are now 12mm) but the area you have to be really careful is the thread pitch as this can vary!

I'd remeasure the thru axle again, as no point buying one and wasting 30euro, here is an image, just in case you measured the release at the end as well:

You have most of the information you need there. The M15 and P1.5 give the thread details, the 135 looks to me like a 148 total length made up of 135mm smooth, 2mm space and 11mm threaded.

If you look at chart shown here https://www.wiggle.co.uk/brand-x-bolt-thru-axle-2

it looks like the Rockshox for 100mm hub would fit!

I've got the same problem as you with a 2016cx merida front axle. Needs 135x15 with 15 thread but very hard to find.

I didn't. I tried everywhere for one and they didn't have it. Got the LBS onto it and they couldn't get one either for me. I just had to get a longer thru axle and got two aluminium 7mm washers and put them inside the rod onto the outer fork and screwed into position. It's secure but would prefer to get the right size thru axles.
