Very impressed by Seamus Lynch in this 10 over European competition that is on over in Spain. Looks a talent. I believe he has hit at least 4 half-centuries in double quick time for the Irish development side that is taking part.

Have also been impressed by the bowling Mikey O'Reilly in the small bits I have seen.

The games are live on Freesports and Ireland will be in the final this evening at 6.30pm.

    Ireland vs Bangladesh woman...

Ireland up against it having conceded 143 runs are now up against it x1000000 and looking nervy and hesitant with the bat... 5/2 after 2.1 of their 20 overs...

Dream start for Bangladesh but not great play from Ireland with ball or so far with bat...up against it.. prodding not hitting

Too much prodding and blocking.. they need 8.2 an over ffs.. its not rocket science...

Missing out on the bad deliveries too.

three Irish batters out of eleven got into double figures.

It’s a World Cup qualifier and during the last over with the game all but done Leah Paul and Cara Murray seen laughing and joking together in the middle..

3 batters making it to double figures, loosing by 14 runs, the two giggles took 1 wicket between them despite being bowlers…and it’s all a bit of a giggle, World Cup qualifier, losing and having a laugh about it.

Talk of David Delaney getting a call up for the world cup. Welcome and all as that is, just shows how hapless the selectors are. How could he be ignored all summer long, for real internationals, but then make a world cup squad based on Mickey Mouse friendlies. Getkate also in the running, again after being ignored all summer..

Ladies performing much better and well on their way to destroying the USA..

53/0 after 6 overs.. chasing down a score of 92... manage to bowl the USA out to... this performance was needed... big time, well done to them..

Win with 41 deliveries left and only loosing one wicket in the final over... Great job.

Heard an odd interview on RTE sports news re Irish team for 20 over series. Something about putting in Singh instead of McBrine because he might take more wickets, whilst McBrine didn't concede as many runs. Bit confused as I thought the idea in this 20 over game was to whack as many when you bat and stop the others scoring as best you can when you bowl? So would McBrine not be better option in that case? I think he hit a few runs as well during the summer, but maybe my memory is suspect.

Women have set Scotland a target of 165 in their T20 world Cup qualifier... a couple of very good overs at the death by the Irish girls set a difficult total for the Scots... be an interesting climax to this one.

Live on the ICC site but despite the picture quality being excellent the feed keeps stalling every 60 or so seconds grrr

A 19 run victory for the Irish and good value for it too.. bowling and batting was really excellent… small issue if I am being ultra critical was probably a couple of mis-fields too many that might have mattered in a closer match but hey a win is a win and excellent it was too..Gaby Lewis was especially impressive. 52 of her 66 runs came courtesy of finding the boundary. 😳

    Ireland vs Zimbabwe..

A frustrating watch... after a solid start literally Ireland can't score .. far too many dot balls.. irish girls just picking out fielders delivery after delivery 100-4 after 15... Zimbabwe have apparently dropped a rake of catches and as I type... commentators curse as another simple chance goes down...

Only 2 runs from the 16th over..

But over 17 sees the foot going down... 20 runs all off Stokell's bat..

First official T20 World Cup warm up game today. Ireland restricted Nambia to 138/4 and are currently 39/0 after 5 overs in reply. Balbirnie not starting this one.

This is one of the worst performances I've ever seen from an Irish team absolutely pathetic.

    All out 127

That middle order just isn't getting any better. Tector, Delaney, Campher all out to absolute nothing slogs. Tector and Campher off their second balls. Are they just stupid cricketers or what. They don't seem to have any idea how to manage a chase. It's all blind panic slogging. They've all played enough T20s at this stage to have some sort of cricket intelligence but they just can't seem to cope woth a run rate over 7.

They bat like this when the real stuff starts and it'll be 3 defeats

Some average shots here to say the least

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,435 ✭✭✭Scoundrel

Campher has been a waste of a spot for the last year at least yet keeps getting picked.

    What a win

Reflecting on the three world cup wins and also performances in general over the past year or so. I wonder have we been too critical of Irelands aggression when batting. Even if losing wickets they do seem to have a gameplan to just try to go hard to build up a score doesn't always work but when it does it gives a potential winning position against anyone.

Flipside is it seems they can lose to almost anyone too

    Just so inconsistent….

Beat England and the West Indies but lose to Zimbabwe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭crossman47

Well, England lose to Ireland but could well win the cup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,088 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

If they do, you can be sure RTE Sport will make a field day out of it.

The final set of group 2 results have some significant implications for Ireland. With the Netherlands securing automatic qualification for the next t20 world cup it means they won't be in the euro qualifier. There are two places at the finals up for grabs at the euro qualifier and Ireland and Scotland will be strong favs to take them. Would have likely been two from Ireland Netherlands and Scotland otherwise
