Joint supplement for dogs?

Hey guys,

I'd like to introduce a joint supplement into my dogs (Male 4 year old German Shepherd) diet. Just wondering if there is any particular brand that comes recommended. From a bit of research, I see that Canine Gold liquid supplement gets good reviews, as does iKarmel chewable tablets. Any one any first hand experience with either of those?

A lot of GSD owners including myself feed them cans of sardines, also mackeral or tuna. Fish oil is great for joints and coats.

I have no idea which joint supplements are good. Has he issues or is it just a preventive measure?

Thanks. The kibble he's fed is salmon and potato which was recommended by our vet as it has high fish oil content so he does get some from that. I never even thought of feeding them sardines etc. How often do you do feed them it? No issues at all yet touch wood, just a preventive measure.

If your boy has no underlying conditions as of yet (which is great) I wouldn’t be going straight on to joint supplements..

I’d start by adding food sources that will help is high quality fish oils daily (as posted above) chicken feet, dried trachea (both high in glucosamine to help joints), tinned sardines (once a week - drain off oil), tinned mackerel (once per week) ..

Thanks so much for the advice. I'll stock up on the dried trachea as the raw food place near me has 10 dried beef trachea for €3.50 I think. I'll also start feeding him tinned sardines once a week. Thanks again!
