NCT/TAX CERT

I purchased a second hand car and the dealer delivered it to my home. When the dealer delivered it, he advised me that he forgot the NCT cert (it's NCT up until May) and would post it to me. He has now advised that he has misplaced the cert. How would I go about getting a new cert? Also I signed the Vehicle Registration Certificate, but I he also advised me that he misplaced that as well. How can I inform the Motor Tax office that I've purchased the car and get a tax cert sent out to me. Advise would be greatly appreciate.

Hmm, dealer conveniently forgets the NCT cert. Hmm, dealer then conveniently misplaces NCT cert.

Using my trusty car dealer bullshit decoder that means he didn't actually get it when buying the car so is now letting you do the donkey work on getting a replacement and paying €15.50 for the pleasure.

There're a few warning signs there, a genuine dealer wouldn't get you to fill in the VRC like a private sale, it's a different process for dealer sales. Sounds like you're dealing with an 'off the books' operation. Do you have any proof you bought the car from him? Was there any warranty?

Have you checked to see if it actually has a valid NCT?
