Renew Passport Online - is it Offline?

Hi,

Trying to get into the Passport Renewal Online portal since yesterday afternoon, but I keep getting:

passportonline.dfa.ie took too long to respond

Anyone know if this is something that's been a problem for a while now and if I should just go the old fashioned route and apply via An Post? (Not in a mad rush, but online is handier)

There is a message on the homepage that it is offline for maintenance

Passport Online is under maintenance, please check back later.

Thanks, I had this page open:

And there's no message on that page!

I was using the website on Sunday, almost had all my details entered when this popped up, 500 - internal server error. It seemed to be up and running yesterday but kept crashing. It then went offline early evening and remains that way.
