New guidelines for GP's

Has the medical council changed the guidelines for GP's when it comes to prescribing psychiatric meds? Just had a difficult week and a half trying to get my meds refilled. Couldn't get through to my psychiatrist so I had to go to two older GP's who seemed unable to refill them. Only got them yesterday after constantly ringing my psych.

They aren't controlled as well (besides a few tablets for Stilnoct) so I'm surprised that they couldn't do it. Have the guidelines changed in the last two years? I don't remember having this issue with GP's a while back.

I think some GPs will (appropriately) leave prescribing of psychiatric meds they may be less familiar with to specialist (psychiatry team). They will in cases where patient has a medical card re-issue or transcribe a prescription issued by that specialist.
