    Yes, this is important, the commutativity rule only applies to a fully completed, correct answer not to partial ones.

    This is how I see it; if the correct solution is;

    3 X 4 - 5 = 7

    And you enter 4 X 3 - 5 = 7 it would be commutated to 3 X 4 - 5 = 7 and call it correct.

    If on the other hand, you entered 4 X 3 - 7 = 5 it would not switch the 4 and 3 as the rest of the equation is incorrect,

    and 4 and 3 would have to shown as correct operands but in the wrong position.
