It's impossible not to automatically bookmark a thread you comment on!! Drives me flipping crazy, yes you can untick the box but old boards used to let you turn off default notifications, among other things.

As Caranica has pointed out, you are automatically bookmarking any thread you post in unless you untick this under the reply box. It's the same on both desktop and mobile:
