Good treatment of mobile battery

I replaced a mobile phone for a housebound person about 2 yrs ago and now have heard that the battery 'failed' . I notice when visiting that the phone is always plugged in and charging so I wonder is that a good way to treat a phone?

I think it is recommended to charge up to 80% and dont let it drop below 15 to 20%

Using it while charging is a great way to keep it toasty. Definitely not ideal.

It should only be plugged in when a charge is needed.
