Some nice rumbles out west just now

Thunder in the distance now, and just seen a bright flash to the west of us, followed by a closer rattle of thunder. Was planning to sleep but might stay up a few more minutes.

Moderate snow just south of Tuam

Expect a fairly widespread 3-5 cm snowfall in Connacht and Ulster, 1-3 cm in Leinster and Munster except near south coast trace-2 cm.

Most of this will come between now and 0900h, then it will ease off and wintry showers may become more mixed, as the coldest air aloft moves through in that time frame.

Amounts somewhat hit or miss due to showery nature of this event, but some heavy falls of snow are very likely given sub-516 dm thicknesses likely to be advected through most of Ireland now to 0900h (core is now shown as 510 dm, don't think that reaches land but 513 dm min could).

With the strong westerly winds this may have a blizzard-like quality especially outside of towns.

    Moderate snow, north Dub

Mixed snow and hail in Galway City at the moment. Not much settling on roads and paths but every single car is pasted with accumulations built up each time.

Dusting of snow in Kildare and beginning to fall now

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,035 ✭✭✭redsteveireland

Its snow just east of the city, but the wind is just blowing it towards Kermit and the rest of the muppets.

Snowing in south Carlow but it’s melting immediately.

Light snow in Naas but not sticking. The Cat didn't make it on foot out the door before she decided to come back in.

Woke up to light snow just sticking on cars, grass etc but snow has turned heavy for last 15 minutes and all surfaces are white now. Tara, Meath

(Edit - stopped now but a nice base for the next shower on its way)
