    What is going on?

Any place that doesn't sell consumer tat / coffee / doughnuts / burritos appears to have moved to doughcloyne in the last few years or are planning to go there.

It has gone to the point that I'd rather go for a shopping trip to Doughcloyne than the city. Hardware places have all but disappeared from the city centre ( bar Scotts).

What booted this on, have the council increased rates on that type of business to make it unfeasible to stay? and what is so favourable about Doughcloyne?

There's a gaff down past the driving test centre selling coffee/doughnuts....

    Maybe burritos too...

Must be land values. Much easier to have a big premises with loads of parking than in the city centre.

Cars have been hunted out of the city. Alternatives to the private car are unattractive.
