Roadbridge gone?

Have heard mumblings this past few months but see a lot of commentary online today about Limerick company Roadbridge.

Have they gone under?

Doesn't sound good. They were looking for investors a few months back.

Terrible if true. Roadbridge had a good name for getting jobs done on time and on budget and I know from lads who worked with them over the years that they were well looked after.

Their workers will be snapped up in short order in the current climate if that's of any solace

Wow shocked to hear this. Worked opposite then on a large infrastructure project and they were by far the most professional contractors I ever dealt with.

Yes, have heard similar about them.. good outfit.

Roadbridge were different than many of the other large contractors in that they owned nearly all their own machinery, had many direct employees and carried out most of the work themselves. Hard to carry these costs in a cut-throat, negative margin civils industry.

Many of the big names in Ireland and UK at the moment are literally a name-plate with work divvied out to sub-contractors who undercut each other to get in with the "big" name and then end up chasing payment when the work is done.

Indeed, sad end to a company synonymous with civils work in this country over many decades.

I may have read it wrong but I understand they were carrying large debts going back to the stint in Poland just after the tiger bust here where a number of the large Irish contractors went unpaid... or bust in the case of SIAC at the time
