Wait I never said American politics is positive. I have always said it's a sh*t show.

I said it before and I will say it again.

The biggest communists and socialists are usually the people who never experienced it in the real life. Theorists who go around preaching how this or that should be done. When you point out how every socialist experiment ended up they always say that it was not done properly. I mean the cheek of these idiots who think they are the one who can do it better... They are usually the type of the people who are mighty interested in how your money or property should be divided between everyone else for the betterment of all.

I lived in socialist country for the first 16 years of my life. It was bleak, utterly depressing existence without future where individual did not matter. In fact, anyone who appeared to stick out of the crowd was persecuted and beaten in submission. Quality of life was miserable and the only people who enjoyed existence in socialist paradise were people on top of the food chain. Everyone else was just a cog in the machine.

Communist and socialist theorists can not be allowed to try experiment with people lives again.

    Cool story.

    Who's advocating for communism?

Can you explain the difference between communism and socialism, in your view.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,166 ✭✭✭patnor1011

    You are.

One is the next step, the logical conclusion of the other. Problem with you people who only theorize and preach is that you do not realize that there is no measure for how far it can go and no mechanism to stop it once it starts. It grow as it feeds on itself until it devour everything and collapse from within.

Western wannabe socialists/communists like you while laughing stock are actually dangerous because they genuinely believe they are the one who can get it right this time. No matter that it was tried and failed miserably time and again there is no shortage of deluded disciples convinced they know how to do it better than others before them. Laughable yet tragic as the cost are enormous and painful.

I think you've summed it up well. A lot of the modern Western Proponents of Socialism/Marxism/Communism have never lived under these regimes, and more pertinently have had very little interaction with those that have lived under those regimes. Particularly the common man that had to live under these regimes. So their actual knowledge is pure theory, with no lived experience at all.

But hey, if Slavoj Žižek says Socialism/Marxism/Communism is great...

Oh but it was good for some people, usually those at the top of the pyramid. Slavoj was moving in top circles so life was not that bad for him. Also Yugoslavian socialism was not as restrictive as it was in other socialist paradise countries simply due to the fact that Yugoslavia lived off tourism and had a lot of visitors from the west. A lot of stuff seen or experienced there was different or even unthinkable compared to other places. I visited Croatia while it was part of socialist Yugoslavia and we were walking around with mouth wide open to be honest. He also appear to become bigger socialist as soon as socialism disappeared.

He is the example of what I meant how wannabe communist talk that others got it all wrong and that they know how to get it finally right. They all think that their idea of it is the only one which can work and dont realize that it will just be another failed try of something which simply can not function. It is in our nature to be competitive and any system which is designed on suppressing individuality in designed to fail.

    Every. Single. Time.

Indeed, and we don't go on about the dafter end of Swedish politics.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

For most western "socialists", socialism means things like a welfare state, national housing schemes, workers rights, human rights, public utilities or a national health service. Good things that should be fought for and maintained. It is possible to blend a mixture of political theory into a system that benefits people, such as post war Britain in the 1950's.

A pigheaded view of socialism as something that's simply wrong, no matter what, is as stupid as someone who won't observe the wrongs of how it was applied by certain actors and states in the 20th century.

And who gets the state built houses?

Taking from those who do and giving to those who don't.

Itl never work. Nor should it. It makes no sense

Ah I knew where you were going with this.

The only people who claim welfare payments are lazy bastards and scroungers, aren’t they?

Its so funny the amount of people who throw out that horsesh*t without having a single clue about welfare payments. Only thing they care about is the dole and f*ck everyone else on welfare payments because some claiming the dole never worked in their lives.

Its pig-headed tunnel vision, without any desire to apply any critical thinking whatsoever.

Rant all you like. You'll never justify a policy of taking from those who do and handing it to those who dont

"Go have a good cry about it. 😉"

    Accuses me of **** posting.

More stupid one-liners with zero substance.

You bracket all welfare recipients with the tiny proportion of the population who are on long-term unemployed.

Including pensioners, those on disability, one-parent families and so many others who even with those payments are still struggling to make ends meet.

    Shame on you.

Thank you for showcasing the complete disconnect between reality and your logic.

Same sort of BS we see when right wing media and commentators in the US talk about Bidens Communist agenda, absolutely zero, ZERO! evidence of it.

I must have imagined the very active thread discussing such in Sweden with a focus on multiculturalism. Strange that.

In what regard? “We’re right and fair minded, you’re all poop heads” is the nature of the post. Disagreeing with it proves your point? Well alright lol

'Taking from those who do and giving to those who don't'

In 2020, Jeff Bezos reportedly earned 142,000 per minute, given the amount his net worth increased. All while fighting against his staff being able to unionize.

The minimum federal wage per hour, in terms if real worth reached its high point in 1968, that means it has literally decreased in value since then by about 25% in real terms.

People in the UK have seen astronomical price increases in energy bills, while Shell have announced over 100% increase in what was already billions of profit per quarter.

In the 60's, CEO's made on average 21 times the average salary in their company. In 2020, that was up to 350 times on average.

A non college educated factory worker used to be able to support a family, now, there are teachers and nurses literally using food banks to feed theirs.

F*ck off with this 'taking from those who do and giving to those who don't' nonsense or look at the data and realize in just what direction this has been happening.

Every single manifestation of communist-socialism has failed, collectively killed tens of millions of people in the process, and descended into authoritarianism. The extant forms that exist in Cuba and Venezuela and North Korea and China are the recent examples of how this philosophy always fails. It just doesn't work. On paper, maybe, but in practice - demonstrably not.

You are fully entitled to have faith that it'll work next time, but the weight of precedent and history show otherwise.

I've told you before not to bother talking to me. I have no interesting in anything you have to say.

Actually you're right. Sweden did come up and how the dafter end of her politics and policies has led to the rise of a novel and alien form of negative social issues in her urban areas. Politics and policies of the Swedish Left, which in turn has lent support to the rise of the Swedish Right. It seems the extreme nonsense untethered to human realities of one sort is sure to face an opposite reaction in the extreme nonsense untethered to human realities of the other. Well I never...

Stop flogging the communism horse, boxer is dead.

No one is calling for it despite the attempts to pretend that is happening.

Jeff Bezos wouldn't be paying tax in Ireland. These average CEO salaries you are talking about are not in Ireland either.

Your bit about the UK too.

Are you suggesting some sort of global socialist revolution?

We are back to the first question so

    Who will fund it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,813 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    Fund what?

And that aside, schools in cities in Ireland, particularly Dublin are now struggling to recruit staff due to housing/accommodation costs in the area.

What does that have to do with anything?

Housing shortage: irelands population rose 30% in 20years due to immigration.

Half of those of the dublin public housing list are non nationals.

Remove low skilled immigrants from the country- Housing crisis alleviated

Sometimes the easiest answer is the most obvious and vice versa
