Ideas to cover hole in engineered floor boards?

Furniture is arranged in one of the rooms now where it has exposed a damaged ole in one of the Balterio engineered floorboards, see below. I have a bunch of matching spare boards in the shed. Has anyone had success in trying to cut out a bit of a top of one of the boards to glue in as a filler? Or any other ideas?

you can get pens to colour in damaged/scratched bits of laminate. Trying to replace the board sounds like a lot of work for such a small blemish.

It's tongue and groove so replacing a board is not an option... I'm wondering about cutting the top off a board the size of the hold...

You can replace individual boards, but depends on where the board is. If it's in the middle of the room, then you may have to lift half of the floor to get to the damaged one; you basically lift the floor in the reverse order that it went down. And you risk damaging some other boards if you've never done it before. If it's a deep gouge, then a small bit of colour-matched wood filler would probably be enough to make it disappear from your mind. If it's now a high-traffic part of the room though you'll probably have to touch it up every year.

Cutting out a chunk of another board to slot in will never come out quite right because there should be ~5mm of give in the floor. So over time the extra chunk will come loose and look awful.

If you look on YouTube you can find guides on how to lift and replace a board in the middle of the floor; it basically involves pulling upwards on the whole floor to give you enough space to pop the T&G in and out. Will make a mess if it goes wrong though. For something this small, I'd go with a less extreme fix. Actually I'm wrong, there is a method for cutting out the bad board. Still though, looks like something you're want to be fairly confident in doing.

You'll notice it less if you darken it. Hit it with a black or dark brown permanent marker and then wipe quickly with a finger.
