Union Wood or Coolaney

Heading out west for the long weekend have a day booked in on the bike. Should I head to Coolaney or Union Wood? Never been to either. Is it easy to find your way around Union Wood? Is Coolaney any use or is it a tame leisurely cycle up and down a hill?

Union woods is all natural trails with some nice intermediate level features. Its not too hard to find the trails as there is some small little signposts for the mtb trails. Strava heatmap / segment explorer is your friend here.

Based on what I know of Coolaney it is mostly Coilte level trails.

lot of walkers round union woods. never managed to get my backside down to coolaney but definitely planning a few trips this year.

Went to Coolaney. Weather wasn't the best, was closer and I've seen it now. Union wood next time I'm down in the summer.

Coolaney is basic Coilte stuff, wouldn't bother to make the trip again as is. They are working on some more trails and they do look more fun (tiny bit rideable) so maybe once they've opened more I'll have another look.
