Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It seems like about 10 years ago we started dominating a bit and always have since?

In 1987 and 1988, there was only one Irish trained winner, Galmoy. In 1989, none. Any promising Irish horse was snapped up by the English. What has changed? Above all else, Willie Mullins. Then Gordon Elliott. Michael O'Leary. The money ploughed into Leopardstown at Christmas and the Dublin Racing Festival. Joe Donnelly, Rich Ricci's cheque book.

Great to see the Irish dominance especially since the British dominated for years with Irish bred horses.

In fairness to Irish racing focuses on quality racing not quantity. Very hard to prep for Cheltenham in Ireland while avoiding your main challengers.

Decent prize money over here has English owners investing big, Mullins, Elliott and HDB are three geniuses in the training game.

Long may it continue and hoping we see some of the English big guns over for Punchestown.

A great week and a return to normality it seems. Couple of things to take out of the week:

Danny and Patrick giving two of the best rides you’ll ever see on Flooring Porter and Billaway. Two totally different style jockeys giving two two totally different style rides but my god they were unbelievable. Patrick’s ride on Billaway reminded me of McCoy on Wichita Lineman. Danny’s ride on Flooring Porter has gotten plenty attention and rightfully so

David Pipe, Hobbs and Nicholls all leaving the festival without a winner again. They were three trainers you could hang your hat on getting a winner

A pal of mine spoke to Pipe at the sale and Pipe remarked at how he couldn’t compete with the Irish trainers anymore when it comes to getting horses. He has the money to get a good one but he knows he won’t get an owner to take it. The Irish trainers can get any horse they want because they have the likes of the Morans, the Donnellys, JP and Cheveley Park there to fight over the horse. The English racing scene is going to get worse before it gets better.
