Transition from Windows laptops to MacBook.... Is it me, or do others also find this difficult?

I've had Windows computers for about 20 years. I recently had a rush of blood to the head and bought a MacBook because I like using my iPhone and iPad. I'm having some problems in opening pdf documents, moving files around, saving to external drive, etc... Can someone recommend a good book or website I could use?

What kind of problems? macOS has really good native PDF support and Preview is excellent.
The trick is not to try to do things the Windows way but learn how macOS does it.

Maybe that's the issue. I may be expecting the Mac to operate just like a Windows laptop
