My employer uses Bank of Ireland and I want them to pay my wages to Revolut bank. But the wages clerk says that she can only use the 6 digit sort code with an 8 digit account number. However Revolut use a 5 digit sort code and 11 digit account number so she cannot input this data. Surely there has to be a way to use the IBAN number in wage payment process. I would like a reply about this as I have been attempting to find out about this for some days now.

In particular:

An Irish employer or utility company cannot insist you open or maintain an Irish bank account for euro transfers.

I'm not sure why you've posted it to the Bank of Ireland forum though. BOI accept IBANs, it's your employer's payment software that doesn't, they're the only ones who can resolve this.

If like my employer they won't do anything about even if it's the law as I assume they won't be penalised so they don't give a stuff.

Our online banking systems will allow a BIC and IBAN from Revolut to be set up as a new payee.

There would be no issues on our side but I would advise you to discuss this further with your employer to find a resolution.
