PC Build - sound options

Im going to build my own PC soon Still saving the money up but, Im a bit confused as to do with sound. I mean It used to be all sound cards now its all changed I dont know what to buy My current system an Alienware Aurora ALX R4 came with a intergrated sound card. What do I buy nowadays ??? What are my options Any help on this would be much appreciated

the general opinion is that modern built in audio on the motherboard is perfectly fine unless you are an audiophile

I have an external DAC as I moved away from gaming headsets and got myself a decent mic and headphones which needed the extra volume also it has some nice bells and whistles for gaming

Like Skerries said, the onboard is perfectly fine for 99.9% of users. I run a giant machine with an i9 CPU and an RTX 3090, RAID array of SSDs for games etc etc, and I still just stick with the default on-board sound.
