Alloy size on BMW X5

I have a BMW X5, well it the Misses car but she doesn't like it. It's the F15 model. It currently has the standard alloys on it, 18" but her main complaint is the car is too bouncy, rolls a lot in corners etc.

I talked to a mate and in passing he said get 19" or 20" alloys and that would help the ride quality? just wondering if that is true? my mate is great but he doesn't know cars 😂 thinks he does but he doesn't.

I'm no expert either by the way

It has this air suspension on it. I know because one of them went bust and lucky it was still under warranty. It seems to be a compression which pumps air into the suspension and I don't want to touch that because it costs a fortune to replace :-)

Trade the X5 in and get her a 5 series instead and maybe she will not complain as much.

Really if she does not like how an X5 handles she is not going to get any better in an SUV.

Awe OK then Get a Ford S-Max. It will handle better and has 7 seats unless that is you need 4wheel drive.

I've had all sorts of jeeps over the years and the best handling one is an X5.

The bouncy feeling is the height of the car. Aint no way of getting away from that!

Unfortunately my wife won’t drive, we had SMAX and Galaxy and both ended up traded in very quickly 🤷‍♂️

Plan is make ride a little better or end up buying a Q7/XC90

Nope.

suspension will stay the same.

bigger allows will reduce the side wall. So what you gain in the bigger wheel you’ll loose on the harder ride of the lower profile wall.

They are second hand, anyway to check alloy are ok? or anythign to watch out for?

Bear in mind that if they are standard wheels, you’ll get very little for them. Might be worth considering keeping to our back on when selling and then selling the other set you’ve bought.
