Ukulele Advice

Hi all

bought a ukulele in Lidl a few years back for €20 and I love it.

the pegs keep slipping and goes out of tune easily. I was looking for advice on upgrading the pegs and stings etx. I did read somewhere that they don’t tune they same as a guitar so got a bit confused. Appreciate any insights. Thanks

New strings and tuning heads for something like that would cost more then it’s worth, you’d be better off getting a new decent ukulele. There’s lots of great quality ones for around the €50/€60 mark which would be much better instruments. Pm me if you want any options

it's a fair step up in price, but if it's the four strings and form factor you like, you could invest in a cavaquinho; i got one for my wife and she really likes it. something like this - it's a steel string, 4 string, miniature brazilian guitar.

You’re probably correct. I had spotted €10/15 pegs online and thought it might be a cheap way to keep it in tune. An upgrade might be a better option. Would welcome suggestions. Thanks

Hey there. Can anyone recommend a beginner ukulele? My daughter is begging for one and I can't say no...it's a musical instrument. Saying no would be like saying "no" if they ask you if they can read or study math!
