Burns off the hook big time there

Who needs 50-22 when you can just claim the lineout anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,289 ✭✭✭crisco10

Ulster should tap this penalty ??

    Edit. What do I know

  • Administrators Posts: 54,510 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Very smart by Jordi Murphy to just shift that on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,015 ✭✭✭Shehal

Try! Game is definetly there for the taking for Ulster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,965 ✭✭✭TRC10

It's not the throws. Arnold is reading Henderson's calls to a tee.

Please ulster, don't **** the bed.

Barnes is letting Toulouse away with an awful lot. Might suit Ulster in the end as these long plays will surely take the legs out of Toulouse

Is the co-commentator saying cereal Baille?

Toulouse are a bit of a rabble tbh. They've struggled badly in the last few months. This will be their 9th loss in their last 13 matches.

They're incredibly inaccurate in their play and make so many mistakes.

    Sweet. Hat trick it is.

Baloucoune you fukcing beaut. He's been absolutely phenomenal today. His tries will get the headlines, but defensively he's been brilliant too. He reads the game so well, such an intelligent rugby player. Combine that with electric pace and you've got some player.

Dupont has had an absolute mare today, it has to be said.

Think I’d still far rather Ulster than them in a knockout game.

Toulouse have been very poor this evening. Ulster should look for the juggler and they can extend this lead even further.

    Never a penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

Warwick very lucky not to be pinged for holding on.

    Dupont is ridiculously skillful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,832 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Wow

    Toulouse bottled winning that game

  • Administrators Posts: 54,510 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Tried our best to throw that away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,023 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Ulster barely scrapped that. Very poor overall given the advantage they had.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,283 ✭✭✭A-Train

Ulster nearly lost it at the end.

  • Great result. And I think Ulster would have been right in it even without the red. Set up beautifully for next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭stephen_n

As poor as Toulouse have been Ulster have absolutely failed to put them away. Against 15 men I can’t see them beating them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,289 ✭✭✭crisco10

Ulster just kept kicking the ball to toulouse there. Was infuriating, they felt their way into the game via all the possession.

    Very poor result for Ulster.

14 man Toulouse were dreadful, that tie should be done and dusted. Ulster needed to make hay there in in the last 20. But Toulouse could very easily win by 6 next week. Ulster would really have you pulling your hair out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

Both sides gave everything to that. Credit to them.

Ulster should win next week. The influence of the crowd on that game can't be understated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭letowski

Still to win in Toulouse is an achievement. Though a 6 point advantage feels a little like a pyrrhic victory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,832 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Interesting that the away side has won every game in the round of 16 so far.

Up to Munster to keep the run going.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,510 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

I’d have taken a 6 point advantage before the game. No question!!

Well beat them in Belfast IMO.

There are some giant Aussie locks playing in France. Does anyone know the current rules about playing for the Wallabies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭Thrashssacre

They changed it recently so Skelton and Arnold have been playing for them the past year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,023 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

For a team with such physically large centers, Ulster really struggle to commit defenders. They weren't consistently compressing Toulouse's defensive line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,889 ✭✭✭✭bilston

I can't believe the negative narrative about Ulster in this thread (well.I can actually because it always happens), but it just baffles me.

Great to take any kind of lead back to Belfast.

The other Irish wingers must be sensational to be keeping Baloucoune out of the team.

    Great result.

    Absolute nonsense.

Any win in Toulouse is a fantastic outcome.

Excellent result for Ulster. Great opportunity next week 😀

    Baloucoune

When you put it like that it sounds lovely, but that's not the full story.

Against 14 men playing terribly, in the first leg of a two-legged knockout game, a 6 point lead is a poor return, especially when they had a 13 point lead at one stage. This tie should be over, but Ulster have allowed Toulouse a chance next week.

I still think Ulster will go through, but they've made it difficult for themselves.

    Balacoune is class. So athletic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,640 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

I'll take that. Would have been nice to prevent that Ntamack try at the end, but we have it all to play for now.

Just need to resource our rucks better, sort out lineout and try to bring Lowry onto the ball more.

Well done on the scrummaging as well - I thought we'd be toast there. All four props - most significantly EOS and O'Toole - held their own. Did we march them back in one and earn a penalty as well?

  • Very poor result for Ulster.

WTF am I reading. Total nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,640 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Fairly typical nonsense. I think Ulster can be happiest with their position out of all the provinces. That's the current champions we're talking about, with a six point win away from home for us. I wish we'd made more out of it, but bloody hell - this is a team that just got ten players back from an international side that won a Six Nations Grand Slam. It's an ask to win anything away to them.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,510 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Even their non internationals are freakishly good. Those 2 Arnolds and that absolutely massive aussie lock they have were pests all day.

That lock is possibly the biggest unit I've ever seen.
