Advice..

Have a Skoda Octavia,which I bought new in 2008...150,000km on clock,only use it to get in and out of work,so roughly 3-4000kms per year.Recently tipped into someone and both airbags deployed/seatbelt tensioners,.No other damage done...I need advice,do I fix it up,or forget about it.only recently got new battery, new timing belt ,new tyres,new brake pads done on it,and the price for a runaround seems to be the cost of getting it fixed..any other cars seem to be 8/9 thousand for ten+ year old car with savage mileage on it...any advice appreciated...

The one thing that matters is the cost to fix.

Sounds like it's worth fixing, depending on cost. It's known to you, low mileage for the year. As always, with used cars there's the risk that you could be buying someone else's problem.

Phileas is spot on. Will depend on the cost to fix.

My own view, similar to hoodie is that I would rather hold onto it than spend quite a bit on an unknown entity (compared to a car that you know the entire history of and appear to have looked after well).

Insurance not an option? They would probably just write it off tho

The replacement car you might buy could also have its airbags fixed

It was always my understanding that in a car of that age, if the airbags deployed then it was beyond economic repair.

Then you get the scrap value from the insurance and keep the car.

was travelling at at 10km an hour at point of impact-slight dent on plastic bumper and registration number plate.Most places Ive contacted to get a quote range between 2000 to 4500.Most said not to bother,as all in it would probably work out around 4000 to fix.which is at the current rate the equivalent price of the car itself.
