Fast forward/reverse with touch panel, Sony WH-1000XM4

I wasn't aware this feature existed but some of the Sony online resources suggest it does.

Is there anyone who owns these headphones who has got it to work ?

I am using a Redmi Note 10 pro/Android but I still have my Huawei P20.

Paired to either I cannot get the gesture to work.

According to what I have read, the gesture is same as skip forward/back (swipe horizontally on touch console /right ear) but you hold rather than release.

It also says that it isn't immediate, but I've waited and there is no FF/Rewind activated on a playing track.

Perhaps it is a firmware update ? Or only certain regions ? Or maybe I am missing something ?

It isn't a make or break feature but I'm just curious if it is really supposed to be supported or not.

It does need to be enabled in the settings.

I actually have always had the setting turned on.

I use the regular pause/play and volume up/down and skip to next/previous track via the right ear touch panel.

I did a bit more experimenting.

What I have found is that, on my Android devices, Spotify or Deezer music tracks can be paused/started/full track skip.

However, music tracks don't seem to respond to the fast forward/reverse gesture.

What I did find was that "Castbox" , the podcast app I use , will honour that gesture and will skip 10-15secs ahead or back, so it seems app specific.

To be honest, the feature is a bit gimmicky but from what I can see it doesn't work on the main streaming music apps.

Not sure if anyone else has the headphones to check this.
