In that situation it would also be very easy to state that the school principle decided not to renew or extend a contract following discovery that the teacher was gay.

State, yes. Prove, quite difficult. There's all sorts of waffly reasons that come under the nebulous category of 'needs of the school' that would be used. Principal would also probably deny knowing anything about a teacher's sexual orientation unless the teacher said it to them directly and it could be proven.

Where I work I've seen teachers go for re-interview at the end of the first year to secure their second year (and CID). Despite all of them going for interview the same week, some got emails saying their contract had been renewed and some got emails saying you are on the panel in the event that a position arises in your subject. That's the roundabout way of not re-hiring in the hope that the teacher will go off and find another job themselves over the summer.... the ones that ended up on the panel were not necessarily the bad teachers, they were the ones that challenged poor management.

Hey OP, we have gay RE teachers in our school. You teach the syllabus / key skills or whatever the fcuk they call it now. As a common level exam subject you cover all religions and none. You're own personal view on religion / faith is not needed as it's an academic subject more humanities based. Definitely not faith based. This is coming from experience in community schools or community colleges, may be slight difference with CBS, but be surprised if an ETB was any different.
