    Yes overtime is a big part of the job. And no you can't say no

    yeah, that’s what I was thinking tbh…

    Overtime is defo a massive part of the job - and correct you can’t say no. Someone I know very well started at 10am last weekend and finished at 5am then had to go back in the next day and work again. This is pretty normal I would only consider doing this job now my kids are older.

    That’s crazy

    Someone (not sure they are on here) kindly requested a FOI for the 2021 recruitment campaign breakdown of grades, which I thought I would share

    A* = 15 candidates.

    A = 217 candidates

    B = 263 candidates

    C = 567 candidates

    I was looking for this in the 2022 FOI logs and I can’t find it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 197 ✭✭crazyfire999

    Yeah fair enough. Good to get that. Puts it into a bit of perspective

    In the exact same position as you! My job is draining the soul out of me.

    any tips to make time go quicker? 😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 138 ✭✭Blueandtwo1320

    It is brutal!

    I was hoping this week or next some people would start to receive either vetting information or PCA dates. Just guessing though

  • Registered Users Posts: 301 ✭✭Si_zx10r

    On a brighter note, some people from 2020 campaign have been contacted with start dates. I am not building my hopes too much of getting a start date in the next 3 yrs if at all to be honest though lol

    Is all this back log due to stormont not releasing any funds for PSNI? If so it’s beyond a joke!

  • Registered Users Posts: 138 ✭✭Blueandtwo1320

    Yes, it is soo frustrating, the draft Stormont budget plan back in January for this year (April-april) had the additional funding secured for an additional 600 officers, but because there is no sitting executive the funding cant be allocated!

    The good news is, if the executive does form, the recruitment for psni could be accelerated rapidly, but then again we could still be without an executive this time next year.🙄 combine that with the appointable candidates on the previous campaign then A* might not even start G.V until next year.

    However, remain optimistic, executive could be formed at anytime!

    The last time the toddlers on the hill took their ball and went home and not let the other kids play anymlre it was nearly 3 years without an executive.

    And for the unionists this time it is perceived as an existential crisis as opposed to a revelation of mismanaged funding and corruption.

    I'd standby for a long wait.

    They'll probably be using the remainder of the old list and the new list for years.

    Not really a great situation for those unsuccessful this time round

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭reddriver

    Always look at the bright side. At least this means we can spend more time in the jobs that we oh so desperately love while we eagerly wait for the job that we actually want to do.

    I personally have had a hell of a week and I couldn't dream of possibly giving this all up anytime soon....

    Sorry if that was overly sarcastic but happy hump day everyone 😂
