It's not clear at all. The Israelis made the offer of a joint investigation to the Palestinian Authority but it declined the offer.

ICYMI by not reading the thread etc., Palestine is bringing the matter forward to the International Criminal Court.

I can't see how any outsider would be able to trust either the PLO or the IDF with this, as though they can accomplish anything together jointly. Israel's idea of cohabitation is apartheid ffs.

There was no demand for a Palestinian state when Jordan ruled the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967 after Jordan and other Arab nations attacked it. Therefore, it's not the same as apartheid-era South Africa.

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,509 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

but alright, your best food forward is 'it's not the same apartheid as South Africa'

So, if someone was genocidally inclined, they could exterminate the jewry by some other means than gassing and people like you would exist to defend their actions as 'actually, not at all like the holocaust?'

I don't follow what 1967 has to do with what Israel is doing right now in the west bank, which is an apartheid regime. I don't give a rats ass if Jordanians or the Arab Nations alike each and all persecuted Palestinians in 1967, it doesn't excuse the IDF mate.

    it is very clear.

the israelies might have made an offer of a joint investigation but it was not genuine.

apartheid is apartheid, and the definition of apartheid is clear.

it doesn't matter whether there was a demand for a state or not at one stage, if another state illegally occupies land that does not belong to it and then treats those living on that land very differently to it's own citizens then that is apartheid.

if it treats some of it's own citizens differently to other citizens that is apartheid.

The difference is that black South Africans were citizens of South Africa right from the start. However, Palestinians in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip were never Israeli citizens.

Yet they are ruled by Israel under martial law, while Israeli citizens in the same occupied territories enjoy the full protection of Israeli domestic law, hence the fact of apartheid.

Palestine is dead, time to move on and for the wider Arab world to integrate refugees. The utter ineptitude and corruption of the Arab leadership did more to bring this about than the Israeli's ever could.

    🙈🙉🙊

What of the millions under Israeli occupation?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,073 ✭✭✭✭end of the road

factually incorrect, israel brought it about by having an unwillingness to recognise borders, and having a want to create an apartheid, or preferably a single ethno-nationalist state.

it is not up to other countries to take in refugees who have no need to be refugees and are so because another country thinks it can steal the land of other countries, people who have a right to live and be where they are, more so in fact then many living in the country stealing their land.

'The sights from Temple Mount, Abu Akleh's funeral led me to a moral decision,' Israeli lawmaker Ghaida Rinawie Zoabi writes in her resignation letter

The majority Israeli Apartheid government has lost its majority, imperiling a planned visit to Israel by Biden as the country now faces another election upon the dissolution of the government.

Video footage that was released blows the “crossfire” bullshit out of the water.

It's still possible that an Israeli soldier perceived that there were militants either at that location or nearby and so didn't intend to kill civilians. Considering the scrutiny Israel is subjected to by the international press, that soldier would have to have been very stupid to intentionally kill a journalist.

Israel are now refusing to hold a criminal enquiry into the scum who murdered Shereen. Innocent people don't something something.

"Israel will not launch a criminal investigation into the killing of the US-Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, which Palestinian officials and witnesses have blamed on Israeli soldiers.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces claimed that because Abu Aqleh was killed in an “active combat situation”, an immediate criminal investigation would not be launched, although an “operational inquiry” would continue.

According to a report in the Haaretz newspaper, the Israeli military police branch has accepted the assurances of Israeli troops that they were not aware she was in a village adjacent to the Jenin refugee camp when she was killed on 11 May."

The IDF investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing huh. Convenient. I bet they’ll also stop calling for a joint investigation too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

They investigated themselves, realised they were guilty, so shut it down. I wonder how it would have played out if the PA had given them the bullet.

And people wonder why the Palestinians didn't want to enter into a joint investigation with them. 😐️

    Faaaaaaantastic. /s

"Really, it's everyone upset at us that we killed a journalist that are the real problem here." - Israel

They're a right sack of ethnofascists aren't they, whoever this majority govt has been.

It's still possible that a wandering UFO carried out a random drive by. However it is much more probable that she was just one more Palestinian civilian gunned down by an IDF soldier. Especially given the lack of scrutiny or penalty the IDF faces for its soldiers murdering Palestinians. As demonstrated by this case where the soldier faces no serious investigation or punishment and indeed is being praised in Israeli media for eliminating an 'antisemitic' journalist.

As far as we known that soldier is still out there with a weapon able to target and murder more Palestinians. And even if they aren't, plenty of other IDF soldiers are willing to do just the same. They know that they will face no repercussions for doing so, because that is ultimately the mission.

Again, there needs to be a total economic, diplomatic and cultural blockade of Israel.

Why? They've killed UN workers, soldiers, refugees, volunteers, documentary makers etc with little consequence. They don't give a rats ass about international scrutiny, save the Americans, without whose support the whole colonial project would collapse. BDS, however, is something that does give them pause for thought - it helped bring down apartheid in SA and it will eventually have the same effect on Israels efforts in the occupied territories.

A thought just occurred to me. How do the Jews think they are originally from Israel when they are majority white while all the neighbouring countries are brown. Simple facts they are not originally from there and they should go back to Europe where they are from. They would have been long gone only for all the help from America and UK.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,177 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

Because Palestine doesn't have good diplomatic relations with many international govts in the west. And the west is used as the world's police.

Israel has damaged it's relationship with the west and has only itself to blame for that. Its gone to the far right extremists within it's midst.

But palestine neither the PA or fatah have really tried to make relations with govts in the west. They tend to reach out to splinter groups.

There's nothing to indicate that the assurances should be disbelieved.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,096 ✭✭✭Odhinn

....so Israel is a neutral party that can be relied on? Pull the other one.

I've said it many times but those Israeli's are absolute scumbags. I have no idea why America and UK and probably others support them, they are a terrorist state. I was amazed at how many countries and people got behind Ukraine but do not do the same from Palestine or Yemen or when America attacked Iraq and Afghanistan, no country says anything. They are the good guys so we will go along with them. They are far from the good guys. Yes I feel for Ukraine but just because it's Russia against them everyone up in arms and supply tonnes of weapons for them. Why not help these other countries and supply them with weapons. The world is a mad place. make friends with America and you will have the freedom to do what you want even if it is terrorist activities.
