It's obviously a move to help people out in difficult times... but it almost seems as if energy companies now have the upper hand as the credit's applied to the account the customer currently has with their provider.
I was just about to iinvestigate switching options for the best deal but realised with credit still on my account, I'll have to wait another 2 months.

It is what it's.

Any amount in credit will have to be transferred or returned to you. What do you think happens, your current provider keeps it?

It obvious you have just made an assumption without even a cursory check. And then jump on here and give false information to people.
