Has anyone on here got an A2-legal CBR650R ?

Want to see what's involved in restricting/de-restricting it and an idea of costs.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I have a 2015 cbr650f, when I bought it,it was a2 restricted but the seller had the parts to unrestrict it.

All it needs is an ECU swap and to change the air intake funnels, pretty straightforward if you have the parts.

I still have the restricted ECU and intake funnels somewhere.

Ring the dealer, they would be only to delighted to answer your questions if it means a bike sale! :) they may even throw in a discount if your lucky.

Having rode a CBR650R i wouldent fancy restricting it as its a fairly heavy bike.

    I have rang 3.

1 - phoned a dealer (landline) went to VM and the VM said the message box was full, so I emailed them. A week ago, no response

2 - phoned another dealer who said there was no such thing. I then emailed them a copy of their own literature, from their own website showing it as available. Also a week ago. Got a response on price of the restriction, but not on the bike nor availability. Go figure....

3 - couldn't get through to dealer #3 at all.

Based on this experience, I don't see anyone making any effort to sell anything.

The advantange of the A2 restriction is the cost of derestricing it is cheaper than changing the bike, so you get a '2nd life' out of it, at full power.

Not sure what to do now tbh, maybe just buy used.

I think getting bikes is difficult for dealers at the moment, new or second hand... They may be less inclined to engage as they are worried about being able to fulfil orders... Just a guess...

When I enquired about a new bike I was told possibly 6 months and no guarantee I'd get an allocation...

Have you checked to see if insurance will cover you as an A2 on the CBR, even if it is restricted?
