Automatic awning control with rain sensor

    Hi all,

I have installed an automatic awning that has wind and sun control built in. I would like to swap the sun control for rain control as it is to be used as short term rain protection for an old open top car.

I assume the built in sun sensor is varying resistance based on the level of sunlight. The switching point is then set via a pot on the unit.

Any ideas how this can be achieved?

Maybe simple swap of the light dependent resistor for some sort of rain dependent resistor? Or a more complex Arduino solution?

    Thanks,

    Wavey.
