Driving from City to Foynes lately and outside Foynes on kerry side there was an old retreat home which is now some HSE facility. You can pull in there as we did with the beautiful views and there seems to be a significant kids play area ( zip Wire, Basketball Court , sports field etc etc , it seems to be built circa 10 years ago but sadly it seems totally unused and becoming more and more abandoned looking every time we stop.

It must have cost a pretty penny when built, hows that HSE wont mantain it ?? or some other group or local politicans get on the case , its criminal to see such a facility rotting away .

You sure it's owned by the HSE? That used to be run by a convent (I think?)

Shame to see it unused though, afaik, covid disrupted a lot of respite facilities so it might be a case of it just being left idle until things in those services normalise. I hope that's the case anyhow, seems an awful waste otherwise.

No it used be owned by religious orders in the past and was kept immaculately but it was sold or gifted to HSE , they seem to have spent a lot of money building basketball court , tennis courts out the back circa 10 years ago but the place is now just decaying away with nobody using it .

Mount Trenchard i know- thats an old boarding school that housed refugees before and now Ukrainians , Bolands meadow is closer to Foynes down by the shoreside.

Surely its maintained by the council? Have you called your local councillor in the area?
