Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Except Mane during the week when he volleyball punched the ball but got away with it as "protecting his face"

I wonder what PSG, specifically Neymar & Messi, will look like after the World Cup?

Interesting draws for the English sides. All should come through handy enough unless they play way below their best (except Liverpool obviously) but on the plus side games against the Italians and Germans will be interesting for fans.

The Portuguese teams will be happy enough to have avoided the big teams and one or both could make it.

I think Napoli is the biggest dead cert win of the ties.

Somebody totally unfancied could make the final this year due to a handy run ,

You'll have two off Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern or PSG missing out on the last 8 ,

So out of the really big guns , You'll have City & two of the above in the last 8 that leaves 5 of the so called lesser clubs in there,

I'm going to say a last 8 of City, Liverpool , Bayern, Benfica, Spurs, Porto, Dortmund ,Napoli

RB Leipzig (GER) V Manchester City FC (ENG) - Can't see anything but a City win here

Club Brugge (BEL) V SL Benfica (POR) - You'd have to fancy Benfica here. Looked good in the group stages

Liverpool FC (ENG) V Real Madrid CF (ESP) - Madrid to win this. Liverpool have gone backwards since the final last year so can't see an upset here

AC Milan (ITA) V Tottenham Hotspur (ENG) - I think this is a hard one to call but I'd fancy Madrid as I just don't trust Spurs to do anything.

Eintracht Frankfurt (GER) V SSC Napoli (ITA) - Napoli all the way..could be eventual winners

Borussia Dortmund (GER) V Chelsea FC (ENG) - Again another tough one. Chelsea are struggling at the moment. Dortmund for me

FC Internazionale Milano (ITA) V FC Porto (POR) - I think Inter wil lget through in this tie

Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) V FC Bayern München (GER) - I fancy PSG to win this one.

    Ide go with

City, Madrid, Bayern, Brugge, Spurs, Porto, Chelsea ,Napoli.

Inter vs Porto could be a fun one. I reckon it will be a bag of goal + extra time.

Bit pointless making predictions now with 4 months and a World Cup to go before these games are played

I'd pretty much agree with you bar the odd one or two where i could go either way but one thing to remember is by Feb tings could look very different for some teams,

Its been very rushed so far we are what only 13 games into league seasons with a World cup which is over months break for teams & a transfer window ahead , Teams could fall off or pick up from very hard to call ,

Good point here from Rory. Man City didn't necessarily get a very easy draw themselves, moreso that a few of their main rivals for the CL have drawn each other.

Man City have gone into very short favourites now as a result - 13/8.

They will still lose to whoever is left when Pep decides to drop Haaland and play De Bruyne in goals in a 2-8-0 formation.

is that a wind up? An irish TV channel choosing to forgo showing a game involving an English team? Surely theres a mistake there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Probably because it's Spurs not the traditional few and also Messi, M'Bappe and the fact Milan are gonna get ripped apart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Fancy Bayern to win tonight in Paris. I'll go for a draw in Dortmund.

Edit: Just noticed the Dortmund/Chelsea game is tomorrow. I'll stay on the fence for Milan/Spurs.

Whichever manager loses between Milan and Spurs will be under huge pressure to keep their job, going by the regression of both this season. Both in poor form, so both confident of the win, but for the loser should warrant a sacking imo

Milan take the lead despite Forster's best efforts. Not great from Romero.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,249 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Romero not strong enough. Thought Forster should have got a hand to the first one, but got a super hand to the second and was unlucky that it popped up perfectively.

Great stuff from Diaz to follow that all the way in.

RTE have to get the adverts and will get more people watching PSG V Bayern than Spurs

Spurs not that popular in Ireland, London and Korea are a big part of their fanbase

Neymar goes down like he was punched by Katie Taylor. You'd get roughed up more on the Dart at rush hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,932 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

It's telling that he spent a full few minutes down holding his face rolling around and not a single teammate came within half the pitch of checking on him, literally nobody believed he was actually hurt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,507 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

And then left more on Kimmich than Pavard did on him a couple of moments later but Kimmich got up immediately.

He is the epitome of everything wrong with the modern footballer.

English team don't want to kick the ball out for an injured player so fuk the ref opposition and everyone else.

    Good auld BT

Add to that a lot of "intelligent" play from Kane when he keeps falling in Kjaer to win frees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Theo Hernandez causing Romero problems once more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,606 ✭✭✭Damien360

As dislikeable a man as Sergio Ramos is, he is having an incredible game so far. His reading and positioning in the game is amazing.

Saying that, I can't see anyone but Bayern winning this game.

Agree on Neymar comments above, he is all that is wrong in the game. Delighted the ref didn't bother with his antics so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Agree on Ramos. He's been excellent. Bayern have been better but without troubling Donnarumma too much. Kimmich has been impressive. Wonder how fit Mbappe is. It would be nice to see him for the last 20 minutes at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,535 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Bayern have been great but they are really missing a top striker and the movement off the ball that they could offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Romero in studs up. Is that not a red ?

Or does it need to be both legs.

    Such a typical Romero tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Navas saves that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,259 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

oh, donnuruma!! that was bad. 1-0 bayern

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's such a poor goal from PSG's point of view. Awful marking and Donnarumma let a shot in the centre of goal slide under his body.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

That one was a great Donnarumma save tbf. Super play from Musiala.

bayern beginning to turn the screw here, stil 1-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I think Donnarumma has cancelled out his howler with those 2 top saves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,259 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

mbappe goal disallowed for offside. am i right in thinking if the neymar shot glanced off a defender it would be onside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Mbappe!!!

    Just offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Spurs are living a charmed life. 2 glorious chances missed in the last couple of minutes. They absolutely should be at least 2-0 down.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,249 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

2 crosses could have lead to 2 goals in the space of 2 minutes for Milan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

That was some goal, so bloody fast

    Or not...var

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,041 ✭✭✭Pipmae

    Now that's a striker. Class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,259 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

and mbappe makes it 1-1 after bayern make a mess of a 3 vs 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,024 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Depends on how intentional the glance is - if the defender actively purposefully touched it, then it would play someone onside. But if it's just a glance the defender doesn't know much about, it would still be offside.
